Raiden Kan took a commanding lead into Friday afternoon’s fourth day of the Aussie Million’s Main Event, after collecting an impressive 1.7 million chips by the conclusion of Thursday’s play.

Kan is a regular poker player in Asia, and a former winner of the Macau Poker Cup Championships. He won big and his spot as number one on the leaderboard against Dylan Honeyman with a full house.

Despite showing promise at day two’s event WSOP APAC bracelet winner AJ Antonios didn’t come out on top, tumbling down the leaderboard.

Kennedy has taught us never to play on a full stomach as he returned from the dinner break for the first hand only to lose. He was all in with Qh-Jh but Victor Teng showed a hand of Ah-Kh and as the ace peeled off on the flop.

The eliminations didn’t stop there, despite leaving with cash and Benny Spindler (70th), Kane Kalas (62nd), and Eoghan O’Dea (60th) all took home AU$15,000, while Dylan Honeyman (56th), Billy “The Croc” Argyros (53rd), Terrence Chan (49th), Huang (48th), and 2014 WSOP Main Even runner-up Felix Stephensen (43rd) all took home $20,000.

After they were shown the door, they formed six six-handed tables to finish off day three. Alex Trevallion managed to win the $25k Challenge and booked himself a spot on the $100,000 Challenge Final Table, but he was eliminated taking out 33rd place.

By 2am AEST, the field had been whittled down to 30, with some great competitors such as former EPT champion Andrew Chen, two-time winner of the WSOP bracelet Brian Rast, as well as Mike McDonald, Tony Hachem, Jesse McKenzie, Michael Pedley, Jan Suchanek, Alex Lynskey, former APPT champion Grant Levy, and Poker legend Phil Ivey and last year’s winner Ami Barer still among the contenders.

Earlier in the week…

Poker faces from around the world came together for the 2015 Aussie Millions Main Event at Crown Casino in Melbourne, but after three days their numbers have dwindled.

Day two saw 338 live poker players remain out of the 648 with New Zealander, Jan Suchanek, in the lead holding an impressive 483,900 chips up from the 163,400 chips he entered the day with. Suchanek wasn’t bluffing to score this lead as he played against Isaac Lau and won with a 6h-2h backdoor flush.

However the Aussies weren’t to be ignored today with Michael Pedley scoring the fourth spot on the day two leaderboard with 376,700 chips, while former APPT Sydney Champion, Grant Levy was forced to fight for his place on the top 10 leaderboard, getting it towards the end of the day, bagging 324,500 chips, despite being down to under 3000 chips on day one.

Other International players who threaten to take the title from the Aussies are Mustapha Kanit and Jonas Mackoff, who are both experienced Aussie Millions players. But we can’t forget the 2014 champion, Ami Barer, of course, despite the lack of presence on the leaderboard at the end of day two. He is definitely trying to beat the odds and defend his title and while he didn’t make the top 10 he ended with quite the hefty stack of chips.

With 136 players ready to fight for the $1.6 million dollar prize we’re ready to see what day three has in store.
